Gooey Stuff
(Be very careful and real all warning labels when handling Borax or
Borax-based solutions. We recommend caution when making "Stretcy" and
"Slarch". Also make sure small children don't put these or any other
mixtures into their mouths.)
Glook
1 cup Cornstarch
1/2 cup Water
Food Coloring
Mix all ingredients.
Great for squeezing through your hands. You can change the consistency
by adding more water, then more cornstarch.
Stretchy
4 ounces White Glue
1-1/2 cups Water
1 tsp. Borax Powder *
Food Coloring
Mix glue, 1/2 cup of water and ten drops of food coloring in small bowl.
Combine borax and a cup of water in medium bowl. Gently pour glue mix
into the borax and stir until well mixed.
Scoop the Stretchy out of the water and knead until dry enough to play
with. Store in sealed container for several weeks.
Stretchy is great for pulling apart. Stretchy also dries out quickly
with a lot of handling.
Slarch
(resembles Gak)
1/2 cup White School Glue
1/4 cup Liquid Sta-Flo Starch*
Food Coloring
Mix glue, starch and food coloring in a small disposable plastic
container and stir. Knead on a paper-covered surface until smooth (takes
a while). If too sticky--add tsp of starch. Too stringy--add 1/2 tsp
glue.
Must be used same day--doesn't store well.
Good for squishing and pulling.
